The all-in-one solution – a heat pump cylinder and 50L stainless steel buffer cased together as one comprehensive unit, available in 150/50 up to 225/50 models, sized for the hot water requirements of a 4-bedroom house. A 25-year cylinder warranty and 5-year buffer warranty are provided from the manufacturer as standard. Combo heat pump cylinders are manufactured with duplex stainless steel and come equipped with a 3m2 or 2m2 316L-grade heating coil (capacity dependent), with 1” BSP connections. These coils are made from wide-diameter corrugated tubing to encourage turbulent flow in the heat exchange process for maximum performance, and quicker recovery times.
An immersion heater is placed beneath the heating coil at the bottom of the cylinder. This can be connected to a solar PV diverter to power your cylinder entirely via renewable technologies but should primarily be used once per week for a 60-65°C pasteurisation cycle for at least 1 hour to avoid any risk of legionella bacteria growth.
The buffer units sited below the heat pump cylinder come provided with 4x 1” BSP connections, and a 22mm monitoring dry stat pocket, with a method of air release using the right-most connection on the units as demonstrated below. Buffer units have been shown to increase COP with air source and ground source heat pumps and are requested by some manufacturers for use with their systems to enable better year-round performance and provide a better standard of living for the end user.
These units come provided with a G3 unvented compliance kit (3 bar/6 bar inlet control set, 7 bar 90°C temperature and pressure relief valve and associated insulation cover, 15mm x 22mm tundish), a suitably sized expansion vessel, 28mm 2-port zone valve, and a high-lit cut-out thermostat.
All installations should be made in accordance with building regulations, as well as the terms detailed in our installation manual, and should be carried out by a qualified professional.
Our integrated buffer vessels come with a unique method of air release, using the far-right hand side connection, and any connected pipework should include a manual or automatic air release. This is detailed in the diagram.
